Maidstone Open - Club Report
by Eve Hart, Club Chairperson

Maidstone has had a fantastic first year and now, with over 15 members, we are a thriving new club.

We have done many things over the past year, ranging from visits to fruit farms and commercial fishing lakes and we have managed to fill nearly every week of the year.

For 2006 we have even more activities planned such as a police dog demonstration and a vet visit.

The Kent Show was a huge success for the club and many individuals had never shown before. Some had not even been near a large animal until it came to training them.

We were awarded ' best presented club' which meant a great deal to us all and everyone is looking forward to the 2006 Kent Show already.

The club has been very fortunate to have been awarded a generous grant from the Rural Revival Organisation, and it has been allocated to be spent on training and publicity.

The grant means that most of our members will be First Aid trained and will have food hygiene certificates by this time next year, and the club is now in a more secure financial position.

Maidstone would like to thank everyone who has helped us in what could have been a very difficult time - our first year has been immensely enjoyable for everyone involved.
