Kent County Show 2007
Canterbury Club Report

Big congratulations to all members of Canterbury YFC who attended the show as I think it was the most successful and fun of recent years.

I know Ben is on holiday, but the Club owe him a big thanks for all the work he did in getting all the gear to the show for us.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves - I think you did. Big thanks to Chris Bowely our County Chairman for providing us with two nights of fantastic entertainment, from his DJ caravan. John and Mike for providing the generator.

Now the really important bit

How did we do?

The members showing really worked hard this year, with 8 pairs entered in the Butchers pairs, we c ame away with a 3rd and 8th(Commended), as the Judge said they were all good pairs.

Saturday in the Fancy dress Canterbury had 4 entries, and once again Sam surpassed himself dressing as the wolf out of Little Red Riding Hood and the lamb as Miss Riding Hood scooping 1st place. Unfortunately the competition was so well entered and the standard and effort was so high our other 3 entries did not get placed but certainly made people look, and well done everyone

Cammie dressed in a Mediterranean outfit with a specialised balloon made into a palm tree with the sheep dressed as a bottle of Malabo

Lizzy dressed as a fairy, with pink wellies!

and Helen dressed as Super girl with super sheep, She got paint every where!

We won the Mock Stock Auction! Andy's price was right!

Two teams entered in to its a knock out which was good fun but unfortunately we did not get placed

Canterbury came 4th in the Round bale pushing. Thanks to Joe and Family for allowing us to have 2 round bales and wrap them for us as we were organising the competition.

In the turnout class on the Sunday morning after another heavy night of partying we had 7 lambs entered, and we came 3rd, 6th, 9th and 10th which is nearly unbelievable as to get place in turnout is a mission in itself.

As a club we have done brilliantly,so well done to all competitors and a big thanks to everyone who came up and helped before the show and at the show especially Pippa, Toby, Richard Lizzy, Briannie. Especially as they Richard, Lizzy and Briannie stood in at the last minute to show our lambs in the turnout.

We even met the National president of Young Farmers. Which was an honour in itself. I've never met anyone as enthusiastic about YFC as he is.

Big Thanks to Steph Dean and her committee and all of Kent YFC for making it a fantastic show.
