South
East Area Comps Weekend 15th March 2005 Also in March was the South East Area Comps weekend in Oxford. Kent had entries in 'Member of the year' competitions, where Kate Springett (in the seniors) and Laura Wood (in juniors) both came fifth. The junior public speaking team consisting of Laura Wood from Westlands and Jodi Hughes and Hayley Osborne of Mascalls School came fourth (only two points off second). But the highlight of the weekend had to be the netball team. Progressing to the semi-finals was relatively easy but then they faced Berkshire (with the most professional yet annoying person there) where extra time was needed. Trying to remain impartial whilst running the line and time keeping was virtually impossible.
When the team talk just before the final consists of 'win and I'll buy you all a McDonalds' and they go and win, you would think that I'd learn but then I opened my mouth and out came 'if you win at National I'll buy you all a three course dinner'. Huge thanks and congratulations go to all the team and I hope lots of you will be willing to travel to support them in the National Final in Kenilworth in October. The
