Brockhill's
Agricultural and Horse Show 8th July 2005 Young Farmers from Brockhill Park Performing Arts College in Saltwood, Hythe, took part in their very own Mini Agricultural and Horse Show last Friday. The Club are unable to compete at this weeks Kent County Show due to the Farm at Brockhill being refurbished; staff therefore replaced the students disappointment with their very own show.
The students had the whole day to prepare their animals for the show which took place at 4pm followed by a Celebration BBQ and awards Ceremony.
'The students showed our cattle, horses and small pets, some even brought in their own pets from home. The atmosphere was fantastic, really relaxed and fun but with a competitive spirit' said Animal care tutor Donna Hawkes.
Student Chairman, Sam Corrie said 'it was brilliant to have all the Young Farmers and parents together to celebrate the past year. Mr Lyng has promised that we will be back at the Kent County Show next year, which we are really looking forward to'.
Year 10 student Sam Wood won the Show Champion Title with her Sussex cow beating her sister, Kerry Wood who took the Reserve Show Champion Title with Molly, one of the schools horses.
Later in the evening, the prestigious titles of Young farmer of the Year went jointly to Sam Corrie and Sam Wood and the Bryan Hawkes Memorial Trophy for Stockmanship was awarded to Ben Corrie.
Brockhill YFC would like to give special thanks to Chris Bowley who judged the small Animal Class, Phillipa Stedman-Collins who judged the Ridden Horse Class and Ashley Pickford who judged the Supreme Championship. |
