Westlands school farm to install CCTV
by Stephen Paine

Monday, 22nd May 2006

Westlands school have announced plans to install CCTV following a horrific attack on their farm animals by yobs in after-school hours. Head teacher Jon Whitcombe spoke for us all when he said "I can't understand how any individual could treat a creature in such a barbaric way."

He continued "We all want to see these people dealt with by the police in the most appropriate manner."

The RSPCA has noticed a worrying increase in the amount of farm attacks in recent months. In October 2005, three horses in Kingsdown had their tails cut off - subsequently leading to one of them being euthenased because of the trauma. The Astor of Hever School farm barn was burnt down in an arson attack the previous year. Local small-holdings are advised to remain cautious and aware, and to report anything suspicious to the police.
