Young
Farmers Unite! Wednesday, 31st May 2006 The Young Farmers of Kent were out in force to celebrate the marriage of two Chairpersons on Saturday.
Miriam Inskip, 27 from Guestling, Sussex, the current Chairperson of Ashford Young Farmers Club married Chris Bowley, 28, from Tenterden, who is the current Kent Federation of Young Farmers Club County Chairman. Both the Bride and Groom are well known in Young Farmers Club circles.
"Kent
Young Farmers is well known as an alternative marriage bureau" joked Alan
Bowley, the groom's father during a speech before explaining that both the Bride
and Groom have extensive Young Farmers background, with the Bride being a past
member of both Cambridge YFC and the Isle of Man YFC before joining Ashford YFC
in Kent. The Groom went to Homewood School in Tenterden which is well known for
its successful school Farm, where he chaired the Club
As tradition dictates this Young Farmers union was not a usual one and Ashford Young Farmers had a surprise in place and the happy couple were greeted by a rather unusual Guard of Honour as they left Guesting Church in Sussex. Club members lined the path with riding crops, inspired by the Bride's love of horses and wore hard hats, inspired by the groom's occupation as Kent Area Surveyor for Network Rail. The Bride's horse, Agatha, also made a special guest appearance at the church gate.
The couple are honeymooning in Egypt before returning to their jobs and YFC life, Miriam is the Wetland Discovery Officer at Rye Harbour and Chris a Kent Area Surveyor for Network Rail. |
